Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This science of art and healing has become widely accepted in the Western World.
Acupuncture is a form of natural healing which has the following major benefits:
- Drug Free Pain Relief
- Treats the cause as well as the symptoms
- Assists in prevention against disease
In TCM psychology, the organs in our bodies each have a particular channel which circulates energy, blood and fluid to all parts of the body. If the circulation of this channel is blocked at any acupuncture point, clinical symptoms will appear. An acupuncture point is like a station point that when functioning properly, regulates the flow of energy through the channel. With TCM diagnosis we identify which organ or organs are in a state of imbalance and causing the problem. We then choose appropriate acupuncture points and insert very fine needles. Through a series of treatments the circulation is restored and the clinical symptoms are relieved.
Chinese medicine is an effective form of preventative medicine because of its ability to detect and treat energy imbalances before they lead to disease.
The World Health Organisation recognises a number of disorders that have been successfully treated by acupunture. These include:
- Neurological
- Circulatory
- Respiratory
- Uro-genital
- Gynaecological
- Skin
- Eyes
- Musculo-skeletal
- Psychological
- and others
